Welcome to Saint Joseph Catholic Church’s website. We trust that the information you find here will be helpful.
TIME CHANGE! Be sure to change your clocks this Sunday, at 2:00 a.m, Daylight Savings Time will come into effect and the clocks will all “Spring Forward” one hour.
Lent & Liturgy: Since Lent is intended to be a time that we live life more simply in order to focus on what is more pressing in our life, our liturgy adapts slightly as well. You will notice that we do not sing the Gloria or Alleluia during Lent. These are both joyous in tone and appropriate for most of the year but not so much during a liturgical season that is penitential in nature. By the end of Lent we will appreciate The Gloria and Alleluia all the more after we have fasted from them for these weeks of Lent.
Throughout the year Fridays are days of penance which usually includes abstaining from meat (however we have the option of doing special acts of mercy or charity instead). During Lent we try to be a bit more diligent about abstaining from meat so that we can be ever more in solidarity with those who have less to eat and are hungry.
A Unique Lenten Double Header!
We invite you to participate in a special Lenten meal with a reflection on a social justice theme, followed by the Stations of the Cross each Friday during Lent (except Good Friday). A simple meatless soup will be served in Tranquille Hall beginning at 6 pm, with a reflection around 6:20 pm. At 7:00 pm the Stations of the Cross will begin in the church. Join us for either or both events, whichever your time allows.
