Know My Son as I Do Pilgrimage 2016
Sunday, February 7 7:00 9:00 p.m. (social to follow)
“Step out” of life’s busyness. “Walk through” what’s been on your mind. Get closer to God. Open your heart to a transformational experience. And be inspired and re-energized as you journey with other pilgrims on the “road.”
Join us for this unique, one-evening journey as Mary, our Mother of Perpetual Help, accompanies us to a deeper relationship with Jesus.
The pilgrimage will take place entirely inside the church. No need to pack a suitcase…just an open heart! Watch the bulletin for more details.

Fasting during Lent –
Ash Wednesday (February 10) & Good Friday, (March 25) are universal days of fasting and abstinence from meat. The law of abstinence from meat binds those who are 14 years of age and older; the law of fasting binds those who are 18 to 59 years of age. The church does not encourage a “black fast” which implies eating nothing. The fast we are invited to observe is to limit ourselves to one ordinary meal (perhaps more simple than usual) and much more simple meals at other times. Ash Wednesday is a good day to make an effort to refrain from snacking. The purpose of fasting is to learn to discipline ourselves and to be in solidarity with so many around the world who have much less that we have. Fasting is never intended to harm your health! If you have a medical condition in which you must eat certain foods at certain times, or are pregnant or nursing a child, please continue with what you ordinarily eat. Do not compromise your health.
Lenten Fridays – Soup, Reflection & Stations of the Cross. Starting Friday, February 12, the CWL will be serving soup and buns at 5:30 pm, in Tranquille Hall. The Social Justice Committee will give a short presentation on various topics, followed by the Stations of the Cross in the church at 7:00 pm. This is a wonderful Lenten activity for individuals and families with all proceeds going to Development & Peace. Donations of soup or buns would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to help by donating soup or buns, and/or with serving, contact Denise, 780-513-4132. Join us for either or both events, whichever your time allows.
